Owners

Sea scouts group the Argonauts is the proud owner of the motor ship De Hoop. The ship has been owned by the Argonauts since December 1969. The ship has been adapted to its current use, but the parts of the ship are all in a condition that corresponds to the original construction method and the appearance of a Hagenaar. Partly for this reason, it has been officially a floating monument since 2005.

The dolphins use the ship as a clubhouse. Every Saturday morning they come to the Hoop’s permanent mooring in the Rotte, near the Irenebrug to run their game program with the Hoop’s hold as a base. And a few times a year they cast off and go sailing for a while, for example to the Rottemeren.

For the scouts, the Hoop is more of a floating camp house. For example, during the summer holidays they go to camp in Friesland for 3 weeks. With the barges in tow, the Hoop sails them right through the Netherlands to Friesland. The hold is used to eat and sleep, and when the weather is bad, also to play in. The hold has to be renovated every time, because we eat at tables and sleep in bunks!
Occasionally, they also use the Hoop for a regular meeting.
